Cost: $45 (4-6 hours)

Location: Near Colorado Springs

Registration: snowkitecolorado@gmail.com

Learn the fundamentals of snowkiting through local instructors.

In this Clinic we cover:

  • Wind dynamics and the wind window
  • Safe wind and weather conditions
  • Proper rigging
  • How to steer and control the kite
  • Board and kite dynamics

By the end of the session you will have a working knowledge of snowkiting and most participants are up and riding with the kite.

Kites are provided. Bring your snowboard/skis, helmet, appropriate clothing, and a lunch.

Colorado Springs has many awesome areas for snowkiting, but our favorite for learning is Eleven Mile reservoir (an hour from the springs) because of it's consistent wind, smooth surface, wide open area and stunning setting. Clinics can also be held closer to town if participants prefer.

Project: Cloud 9

The Colorado Plains are in Epic condition this winter!

Check out Motz's Project: Cloud 9 blog to see what his crew has been doing on the plains of Colorado.

"Project Cloud 9 actually started over a month ago (unexpected) here in Colorado. After two blizzards and non-stop snow storms we have been kiting like crazy around here. Basically everything east of Denver is unreal with a couple feet of powder and smooth winds nearly everyday. It's been hard to get this site going knowing there is some of the best riding ever just 20 minutes away. "

"Well we are filming still here in Denver and we are not going anywhere. We have all decided that this is the place to be in the US and it's crazy insane. Pat and I have kited every afternoon..."

Pikes Avy

This weekends nuking winds loaded up the east facing bowl on the northwest flank of Pikes and caused it to cut loose on saturday.

This was a big slide for this time of the year.

El Nino has been working his magic, keeping the storms tracking south and bringing winter back to the southern front range. Its been a while since we had a good winter and Ulr is welcome to reek havoc as long as he likes.
